Course Objectives (課程目標):
This course is an advanced level course on international affair, focusing on the political economic and cultural aspects. In every class, we will examine general concepts such as relativism, cosmopolitanism, state function, nation building, regime types, democratization, globalization, global culture, and the politics of international economic relations. With the knowledge of these key concepts, students will need to broadly study current events around the world. Also, we will spend several sessions examining the soft subjects such as music, art, global trend on fashion, cuisine, tourism, health, relationship, among others. The aim of this course is to equip students with knowledge of international affairs and help them with their employability.
Applicable Students (適用對象):
All students who are interested in the knowledge of international affairs.
Prior Knowledge (先備知識):
Not mandatory but students are encouraged to take introductory level courses of international affairs such as economics, cultural study, and/or comparative politics.
Instructor (授課教師簡介):
Mark Wenyi Lai is an associate professor in the Department of International Affairs, Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages. His academic expertise includes international relations, political economy, cultural theories and Chinese government and politics.
Grading (評分標準):Your grade for this class will be based on the following assignments:
Attendance and Participation 20%,
Mid-term Examination 30%,
Final Examination 50%.
